Post of the week
Every day another GOP mayor, governor, Sherri, TV commentator, preacher or radio host announces they’re suspending duties to go into the hospital for SARS-Covid.
"He is in serious need of your prayers tonight." Nope. He was in serious need of the vaccine.
They were all antivax. It's like a mass suicide event. Their cause of death is not prayer insufficiency.
When researchers study middle aged males they find a high instance of suicide rates and just a lot of misery and anger. If you break down this data, the numbers are much worse in poorer red states/red counties. The consensus is usually that's because those areas are poorer, but I think that's not the whole story. We know what it takes to lead a happy life as an older person and conservatism and the toxic masculinity they all subscribe to goes 100% against that.
My pet theory is a lot of them don't mind checking out early. They've devoted their lives to hate, ignorance, racism, sexism, and have lead lives devoid of wonder and humanity since childhood. They lives without love, curiosity, fairness, caring about others, and they only use words as weapons, hence their love of dishonest conservative personalities. I think a lot of them honestly welcome death by covid or don't mind it all that much. If covid takes them, its fine, they don't want to be here much anyway. If they did, they probably wouldn't subscribe to conservative thought which is ultimately hateful and nihilistic.
I feel this also explains their obesity, alcoholism, refusing to see doctors attitudes, smoking, and other risk taking (driving unsafely, buying a motorcycle at midlife, fireworks, gun collecting, hunting). They just don't care very much to stay alive and won't usually take their own lives but if some other agency does, then that's a desirable outcome. I don't think we talk about the abject misery of being a conservative, but its a real thing. I see it in every conservative I know.
They're just miserable people. Some, maybe even most of them, past a certain age don't mind going down early and they certainly wouldn't mind taking others with them if they do. Covid gives them both outcomes unfortunately.
